Buckskin Trades
Have you thought about advancing to Buckskin in FCF? Having problems coming up with a trade? Or, if you have a trade, are you dissatisfied with your trade? Well, after many days of work and lots of man hours, the Shawnee Trail has a resource available that can help you learn about a wide variety of trades from the 18th and early 19th centuries. From A to Z, we currently have 61 trades listed with short descriptions and complete with references. While our resource is not intended to be a complete list, it is rather extensive. As more research is done and more trades and references are found, we will continue to add to and expand our list of trades. If you know a trade that existed in the 18th or early 19th century and have some online references to support the trade, please email David Trower, FCF sutler/promotions. Our resource can be found at Buckskin Trades.

Where the Plains Meet the Mountains
July 14th – 18th
Hey, Old Timers and Young Bucks! Rendezvous is coming soon and I for one can’t wait. We will have a bus available for traveling to and from Rendezvous again this year. If you went last time, you know how nice and affordable it was to ride the bus instead of driving yourself. We will be leaving at 8pm on July 12th from Crossroads of Life in Duncanville and returning on July 18th in the evening. » Continue Reading

Word from our Chapter Scout
What is FCF? Is it just a group of guys who look cool, and get all dressed up for Pow-Wows and other camps? Is it just another fancy pin you can wear on your uniform? Is it more? » Continue Reading
Brush Poppin’ 2009 Wrap-Up

Brush Poppin’ 2009 has been going strong. We had a great evening service with Pastor Mike Howell of That Church in Corsicana speaking. The Spirit of God moved through our praise and worship time both before and after the message. He spoke from II Timothy 4:7, which reads “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith” (MKJV). He also spoke from Hebrews 12:1, “Since we also are surrounded with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily besets us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us” (MKJV). » Continue Reading
Live From Brush Poppin’ 2009 – Saturday Afternoon

Things are going well at our Shawnee Trail Brush Poppin’. Current attendance estimates are that we are approaching 90 in attendance at this year’s Brush Poppin’. At our morning devotional time, God moved mightily during our praise and worship time. Such old favorites as “Mansion Over The Hilltop,” “I’ll Fly Away,” and “Amazing Grace” helped lead us into God’s presence. Ron “Pure Heart” Goodnow gave our morning devotion and he spoke on the first portion of the FCF motto “to give and to serve.” His Scripture was out of Proverbs chapter 11 verses 24-25, “There is one who scatters and yet increases; but one who withholds just due comes only to poverty. The soul who gives freely shall be made fat; and he who waters shall also be watered himself.” Ron, in his devotion, made the claim, quite successfully, that you can’t be blessed if you hold back on giving. The more you give the more you open the doors to allow God to bless you exactly when you need Him to. » Continue Reading
Live From Brush Poppin’ 2009

Brush Poppin’ 2009 has officially begun. I am currently blogging live right outside of Fort Vision at That Church in Corsicana. Our numbers are strong, as made evident by the number of people in attendance at our evening service. Tim “Straight Stitch” Avrit was the speaker tonight, and he spoke from Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the face of his friend” (MKJV). The theme for Brush Poppin’ this year is “Coming Home.” Tim “Straight Stitch” Avrit spoke concerning FCF that not only is FCF the service arm of Royal Rangers, but that the key to FCF is fellowship. » Continue Reading
Facebook Group
Social networking has grown exponentially over the last few years with more and more people joining these types of sites. Examples of these sites include Facebook and MySpace. More of our young people appear on one of these two social networking sites, then on any other social networking site. We are also seeing growth in social networking sites among professionals, as well. As a result, in keeping with the ideals laid out at the 2008 National Council and in the Seek and Save Magazine of 2008, we need to do things that get us out where the boys are at. One of the ways that we can do this is through Facebook and MySpace. » Continue Reading
