Well, the 2008 Family Days has officially come to an end. We had over 300 registered participants at this year’s Family Days. Between our dessert auction and our silent auction, we raised around $2,300. We have had many great memories that families have made through the course of this year’s Family Days.

The Lord moved during the Sunday morning church service, where Belinda Kersey gave another great message that spoke comfort into the lives of everyone present. Each family group had an opportunity to pray together which was followed by communion, which was taken by family group with a chunk of bread and a cup per family. Each family member tore a piece of bread off from the chunk and the whole family shared from the cup. We had so many people that was present at this morning’s service that they ran out of grape juice and had to go get more from a campsite. God was so awesome this weekend. He met every family that was present at Family Days.

After the church service, was the awards ceremony where we acknowledged Carol Woods who, along with her husband Mark “Brave Beaver” Woods, is moving out of district.  We presented awards to the top individuals in each of several categories including campsite judging, four different food categories, the trail walk, and more.  After all the awards were presented most of the staff were given an opportunity to speak about things that related to their staff responsibilty.  David Trower got a chance to talk about the new FCF web site and about the complete redesign in addition to some of the features that are available online as well as some future plans for the web site.  Rodney “Bow Breaker” Briggs made reference to the Buckskin ceremony that took place Saturday evening, where two of our members advanced to Buckskin.  He challenged all the Frontiersman that were present to “get busy” and advance to Buckskin.  His words of “get busy” were echoed by Jeff “Sky Watcher” Kersey when he addressed those members of Buckskin when he encouraged them to do what it takes to advance to Wilderness.  Tim “Straight Stitch” Avrit talked briefly about the new structure to the Trappers Brigade points system.  No longer do you earn 1/2 a point for every hour worked in your community or church.  It is now 1 point for every hour regardless of where that hour is worked.  The number of points required to achieve each step has been increased as well.  Michael “Bald Eagle” Clay gave a report on the total number of registered attendees and the totals from our two auctions.

I hope that those that attended the 2008 Family Days was blessed and that those of you that unfortunately had to miss Family Days that you will begin making plans to bring you and your family to the 2009 Family Days that will be held October 23-25, 2009.
