Social networking has grown exponentially over the last few years with more and more people joining these types of sites. Examples of these sites include Facebook and MySpace. More of our young people appear on one of these two social networking sites, then on any other social networking site. We are also seeing growth in social networking sites among professionals, as well. As a result, in keeping with the ideals laid out at the 2008 National Council and in the Seek and Save Magazine of 2008, we need to do things that get us out where the boys are at. One of the ways that we can do this is through Facebook and MySpace. Several of our national staff have created Facebook accounts that allow them to connect with those in the field through a new media. Such national leaders as Doug Marsh, national commander; Steve Schultz, national training coordinator; Ryan Beaty, national programs coordinator; Jim Barger, National Council president and regional coordinator for the Great Lakes region; and others. In our own district, FCF Sutler/Promotions David Trower is on Facebook, along with Deputy District Commander Rick Beebe and Deputy Regional Training Coordinator and South Division Divisional Commander Rick Adkinson.

I am pleased to announce that the North Texas Royal Rangers FCF Shawnee Trail Chapter has a group on Facebook where members can join the group and stay connected. As of the writing of this post, we already have 25 members to the group. I look forward to utilizing our Facebook Group to get and stay connected with those on Facebook that are involved in FCF, especially those from our chapter. If you have a Facebook account, feel free to join our Facebook group. If you haven’t yet joined Facebook, go create an account and join our group.
