2009 Brush Poppin' Medallion
Brush Poppin’ 2009 has officially begun. I am currently blogging live right outside of Fort Vision at That Church in Corsicana. Our numbers are strong, as made evident by the number of people in attendance at our evening service. Tim “Straight Stitch” Avrit was the speaker tonight, and he spoke from Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the face of his friend” (MKJV). The theme for Brush Poppin’ this year is “Coming Home.” Tim “Straight Stitch” Avrit spoke concerning FCF that not only is FCF the service arm of Royal Rangers, but that the key to FCF is fellowship. He encouraged Old Timers to rekindle friendships that have fizzled. He encouraged Young Bucks to utilize current technology such as Facebook and MySpace to connect to friends and keep their friendships up. He also encouraged Young Bucks and Old Timers to develop mentorships and friendships. During the alter call, God was able to work in the lives of men and boys. After the altar call, FCF members had the opportunity to play Candlelight Handles. Handles is where the first person throws their hawk at the target then the objective of the next person is to try and split the wood of the handle of the hawk that is stuck in the target. Tomorrow is going to be a fun and exciting day full of fun activities including some interesting twists. The FCF President has issued a challenge to any 5 man team to compete against him and four other FCF staff members for the bragging rights of The Best of the Best of Brush Poppin’ and that challenge will be taking place during the day tomorrow.
