FCF Family Days 2009 MedallionWell, we are nearing the end of the 2009 Family Days. All that is left is Sunday morning. The Round Robin is current in progress. There are still some dominoes games being played, fires are ablaze and smores are being consumed. I didn’t get a chance to catch up with Michael “Bald Eagle” Clay to get the registration count or the summary of what the dessert auction brought in. This afternoon, I counted 40 shelters here lining the parade field. By my counts, that is four shelters less then we had on the parade field last year. » Continue Reading

Live From 2009 Family Days – Friday Late Night

FCF Family Days 2009 Medallion - GoldI am sitting under the pavilion listening to some friendly dominoes players playing a game of dominoes. Behind me is a conversation between past NTX FCF President Gary “Wild Wind” Bierschwale, current NTX FCF President Art “Flintlock” Sullivan, and Kansas FCF President Paul “Large Mouth Bass” Serb. The smell of wood fire is in the air. The temperature is currently 46° F with a slight breeze. There are numerous tents set up throughout the parade field and I am seeing many familiar faces. There are some new faces as well, which is always a joy to see at Family Days. There are also a good number of campers camping in the modern camping area. Official registration numbers aren’t in yet, but I’m sure we have a decent turnout. » Continue Reading
