Live From Brush Poppin’ 2009

2009 Brush Poppin' Medallion
Brush Poppin’ 2009 has officially begun. I am currently blogging live right outside of Fort Vision at That Church in Corsicana. Our numbers are strong, as made evident by the number of people in attendance at our evening service. Tim “Straight Stitch” Avrit was the speaker tonight, and he spoke from Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the face of his friend” (MKJV). The theme for Brush Poppin’ this year is “Coming Home.” Tim “Straight Stitch” Avrit spoke concerning FCF that not only is FCF the service arm of Royal Rangers, but that the key to FCF is fellowship. » Continue Reading

Facebook Group

Social networking has grown exponentially over the last few years with more and more people joining these types of sites. Examples of these sites include Facebook and MySpace. More of our young people appear on one of these two social networking sites, then on any other social networking site. We are also seeing growth in social networking sites among professionals, as well. As a result, in keeping with the ideals laid out at the 2008 National Council and in the Seek and Save Magazine of 2008, we need to do things that get us out where the boys are at. One of the ways that we can do this is through Facebook and MySpace. » Continue Reading

FCF Staff Changes

Those that were at FCF Family Days is already aware of the fact that Mark “Brave Beaver” Woods has accepted a job promotion in his company that made it necessary for him to relocate to Virginia. As a result this left the Shawnee Trail without a vice president. We wish him well in his endeavors.

2008 Family Days Wrap-up

Well, the 2008 Family Days has officially come to an end. We had over 300 registered participants at this year’s Family Days. Between our dessert auction and our silent auction, we raised around $2,300. We have had many great memories that families have made through the course of this year’s Family Days.

Live From 2008 Family Days – Saturday Night

Things have been going great here at the 2008 FCF Family Days.  We have had a great time all day.  We have had over 300 people registered for this years Family Days.  In the parade field we have 44 shelters set up, quite a few of which have very elaborate setups.  In last nights dessert auction, we raised almost $2,000.

At this mornings devotion, we had a time of music followed by the cannon crew shooting off not only the district cannon but also two volleys of gun fire.  After all this excitement, Belinda Kersey gave her devotion basing it on Psalms 3:1-3.  “O LORD, how many are my foes!  How many rise up against me! Many are saying of me, ‘God will not deliver him.’  But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.”  » Continue Reading

Live From 2008 Family Days – Friday Early Evening

The 2008 Frontiersman Camping Fellowship Family Days has began.  I am sitting live here on the front porch of the Commander’s Lodge facing towards the parade field and watching all of the action and activity going on around the camp.  The smell of wood fires hang in the air the sounds of stakes being hammered into the ground comes towards me.  I sit here and see the large number of shelters that are in the parade field and I see a lot of familiar faces.  I also see new faces here at Family Days.  » Continue Reading
